Save the Monarchs!

Plight of the Monarchs

🦋 Help Save The Monarch Butterflies 🦋. They are an Endangered Species, all we have to do is PLANT MILKWEED 🌱, the only thing Monarch Caterpillars can eat. Milkweed is not only essential for the Monarch Life Cycle, but it also is a great resource for ALL pollinators, all nectar loving butterflies, many species of Bees🐝 & Hummingbirds to mention a few.

Watching the amazing cycle of eggs hatching into larvae (🐛 Cute Caterpillars), then the larva turning into a chrysalis & finally a Beautiful Adult Monarch Butterfly is a unique experience.

Plant Milkweed.

Join Us, We CAN make a difference.

Avoid use of pesticides, especially systemic pesticides which transmit their poison through their nectar also (unlike contact only pesticides).--try to get your neighbors onboard with reduction of pesticides also since your butterflies will likely visit their plants. Plant abundant butterfly nectar flowers.

First Population Study on Winter Breeding Monarch Butterflies. The study looked at the monarchs breeding in the South Bay during winter. The monarchs bred on Tropical, Evergreen or Ornamental Milkweed. This is a local study.

Now that you have Milkweed growing there are at least 4 categories of people:

We have a milkweed loaning library in memory of Jim a passionate monarch advocate.
